How to measure your ring size

The most accurate way to size your fingers is by using a professional ring sizer. However, you can also use the following methods at home to determine your ring size to make an online purchase for a ring you fall in love with or to offer as a present for a dear one.

Method 1: Measure your finger

  1. Wrap a piece of string, ribbon, thread, or paper strip no wider than 1 cm around the base of the finger on which you plan to wear the ring.
  2. Mark the string or paper with a pen where it overlaps to form a complete circle.
  3. Measure the length of the section of string or paper with a ruler, from the starting end to the pen mark.
  4. Slide the string or paper and make sure it slides off easily over your knuckle. If the size of the base of your finger significantly differs from the size of your knuckle, you should measure your knuckle as well. We recommend choosing a size in the middle of these two measurements.
  5. Compare your measurement with the chart on the right to determine your ring size.

Here are some tips to get a more accurate measure:

  • It is better to take the measurement at the end of the day, as fingers tend to be larger at this time.
  • Your fingers can shrink after being in contact with cold water, and they can also become larger because of heat.

Method 2: Measure a ring you already have

  1. Choose a ring you already own and that you feel comfortable wearing.
  2. With a ruler, measure the distance straight across the inside of the ring, from edge to edge. This will give you the diameter measurement in millimetres.
  3. Compare your measurement with the chart on the right to determine your ring size.
