How to choose your jewery

One of the best ways to choose your jewellery is to find a piece that matches the colour palette of our wardrobe, as well as the colour of your eyes or general style. But sometimes, we can also gift ourselves with something unique – something that means much more than simply a fashion accessory.

After 30 years of selling jewellery at fairs and pop-up stores, we’ve noticed that often, our customers are initially drawn to one specific piece. Then, they take some time to check out all our other jewellery and in the end, they typically go back to the initial piece that first caught their attention.

Sometimes, the piece they choose is different from anything they have ever worn before! So, they keep looking around for a more reassuring and safe choice – and yet, their spirit is still drawn to that first piece.

This illustrates how the mind works: trying to analyse, consider, and find the best, rational choice. It certainly takes courage to stand for what we truly like and be open to following a feeling we can’t explain.

“Intellect can err, intuition never errs, it is infallible.  It always directs you to the right cause of action.”

Stone’s Essence meditation

We invite you to practice this simple and powerful meditation created by Nadeen, the founder of Joya Jewels:

  1. Choose a stone you would like to connect with. It doesn’t matter whether it’s in a piece of jewellery or not.
  2. Find a quiet place where you can be undisturbed for about ten minutes.
  3. Take a few deep breaths and allow yourself to relax a little deeper upon exhalation.
  4. Close your eyes and hold the stone in your hands. Explore the physical sensations arising from its contact. Is it cold or warm? Does its surface feel hard or soft?
  5. With your inner eye, start seeing the colour of the stone. Imagine yourself fully emerged into this colour and the quality of the stone you have in your hand.
  6. Now, visualise yourself sitting in the middle of the stone. How does it feel? What effect does this have on your body? Is it soothing, relaxing, protecting, and stimulating you? Simply explore these sensations to find the answer yourself.
  7. Take a moment to leave this experience behind and come back.

This practice can help you explore the effects a particular stone has on you and why you might be drawn to it
