find the stone that is
meant for you
Popular gemstones
After 30 years of selling jewellery at fairs and pop-up stores, we’ve noticed that often, our customers are initially drawn to one specific gemstone. Customers describe to have felt connected to a stone from the very first time they laid eyes on the piece. As human beings we resonate to what the stone expresses explicitly and implicitly. Whether we are aware of it or not, the stone speaks to and for us as it enhances something of our essence. Some stones we wear to protect us, some to make us stand out more and some to remind of us qualities we have forgotten or aspire to live by. Whatever the stone represents to you, let it choose you from a deep intuitive knowing. Here some of the most popular gemstones and their meaning.
Turquoise
Moonstone
Garnet
Peridot
Amethyst
Amethyst gemstones have fascinated mankind for centuries. The purple to deep purple hues were once reserved for royal or religious figures, who wore them as a symbol of their important position in society. The lore includes several claims of mystical powers, including that it would give strength and wit to those who wore the amethyst. Amethyst has also been associated with Bacchus, the ancient Greek god of wine, and it was believed that wearing it keeps the drinker sober. Amethyst comes from many places around the world and is a gemstone that everyone can enjoy. It is the February birthstone, but those born in other months also delight in its charm and beauty.

Stone’s essence meditation
We invite you to practice this simple and powerful meditation created by Nadeen, the founder of Joya Jewels:
Choose a stone you would like to connect with. It doesn’t matter whether it’s in a piece of jewellery or not.
Find a quiet place where you can be undisturbed for about ten minutes.
Take a few deep breaths and allow yourself to relax a little deeper upon exhalation.
Close your eyes and hold the stone in your hands. Explore the physical sensations arising from its contact. Is it cold or warm? Does its surface feel hard or soft?
With your inner eye, start seeing the colour of the stone. Imagine yourself fully emerged into this colour and the quality of the stone you have in your hand.
Now, visualise yourself sitting in the middle of the stone. How does it feel? What effect does this have on your body? Is it soothing, relaxing, protecting, and stimulating you? Simply explore these sensations to find the answer yourself.
Take a moment to leave this experience behind and come back.
Explore the effects a particular stone has on you and deepen your relationship with it.
Taking care of your stone

Keep it clean
Wipe your jewellery with a soft cloth after each use. If you wear it all the time, you should wipe it regularly to remove dust.
If you notice some dirt on your earrings, rings or necklaces, you can prepare a solution of warm water with a few drops of natural soap, and then dampen a soft cloth with this solution and rub them gently. Then, you can dry them with a lint-free cloth.
Porous stones and pearls need to be handled with extra care. You can clean them with clear water (with no added chemicals), but it is important to avoid letting them soak in water for long periods.
You can clean silver jewellery with a silver cleaning cloth. If your piece has become matte or scratched, the best way to clean it is with a soft eraser.
Keep your jewellery away from chemicals
Avoid wearing your jewellery while doing tasks such as washing dishes and gardening, or when visiting a chlorine-treated spa, swimming pool, or jacuzzi.
It is important to avoid wearing delicate jewellery when applying skincare creams, pharmaceutical products, or perfume to your skin, so their chemical ingredients do not come into contact with the piece.
Don’t use any harsh chemicals to clean or polish your little treasures.
Keep your jewellery pieces carefully stored
Gift yourself a dedicated padded jewellery case or place your jewellery pieces in separate fabric bags inside a decorative shoe box. It is important to never store any jewellery in a drawer next to other items that might damage it.
Separate the different pieces inside your jewellery case to prevent scratching. Specifically, it is important to separate silver jewellery from gold.
Earrings can be beautifully displayed on an earring tree or by attaching them to a piece of ribbon, while keeping the pairs together.
