This beautiful Tibetan Buddha was lovingly and harmoniously handcrafted by a Balinese carver from a piece of solid, colour-grained crocodile wood. Our partner in Bali, Wajan, refines the hand-carved figures with paint. He selects the best Buddhas and refines them with traditional Balinese motifs by hand.

Crocodile:
Crocodile wood is a light-colored wood that is ideal for making sculptures. Not very hard and robust, rather soft, with beautiful exotic grain. The tree gets its name from its external appearance, the gnarled spinous processes are reminiscent of crocodile teeth or the skin of a crocodile. It is said that locals are regularly frightened by a piece of crocodile wood floating in the river, as they mistake it for a crocodile. Because of the light color, it is also called the “ivory of woods”.
Meaning of the Buddha:
Buddha means “the awakened one”. The term “Awakened One” refers to Buddha’s meditation. It stands for peace, inner balance and a conscious, attentive life.
