This Mochila Wayuu is a handmade (2ply) bag from Colombia.
The eye-catching and colorful bag is made by the Indians from La Guajira in northern Colombia. The Wayuu are an indigenous people in South America who earn their livelihood mainly through crocheting or fishing. The Wayuu women usually crochet on a bag for about 15 – 20 days with a lot of creativity.
The shapes and patterns on the bag have been passed down through generations. The more patterns a bag has, the longer it takes to produce and the higher the value of the Mochila Wayuu. The bags are available in various colors with a wide variety of patterns.
Each Mochila Wayuu is unique.
