This beautiful Ganesha was lovingly and harmoniously handcrafted by a Balinese carver from one piece of solid, colour-grained crocodile wood. Our partner in Bali, Wajan, refines the hand-carved figures with paint. He selects the best Buddhas and refines them with traditional Balinese motifs by hand.
When selecting the Buddha figures we offer, attention is paid to a charismatic aura and a high quality of this craftsmanship. Special emphasis is placed on the meditative, balanced charisma.
Handcrafted with attention to detail, this Ganesha is a one-of-a-kind and unique work of art.
Crocodile:
Crocodile wood is a light-colored wood that is ideal for making sculptures. Not very hard and robust, rather soft, with beautiful exotic grain. The tree gets its name from its external appearance, the gnarled spinous processes are reminiscent of crocodile teeth or the skin of a crocodile. It is said that locals are regularly frightened by a piece of crocodile wood floating in the river, as they mistake it for a crocodile. Because of the light color, it is also called the “ivory of woods”.
Ganesha:
Also known as Vinayaka or Ganapathi, is the son of Shiva and Parvati. Hindus worship Ganesha as one of the most prominent and popular of the worshiped deities. “Ganah” in Sanskrit means multiplicity, beings. “Isha” means Lord. Thus, Ganesha means “Lord of all beings.”
